Nature's most powerful Antiviral Medicine

Soil Based Organisms -- The "missing link" of the 21st Century diet?
by Simon Galloway BSc (Hons) Pharmacology, MBAMT

It's common knowledge that we share our bodies with friendly bacteria that perform a host of beneficial functions to ward off disease. Now, scientists are discovering that once upon a time our soil and food chain was teeming with medicinal superbugs called Soil Based Organisms (SBOs) which prevented many of today's chronic diseases.

Astonishing cures got us hooked
SBOs are the closest thing we have encountered to a one-of-a-kind panacea for some of the 21st century's most common chronic diseases. Scientific studies are showing that their staggering full-spectrum action combats many of the major drug targets like diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, high cholesterol, Parkinson's disease, Lou Gehrig's disease, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, oesteoporosis, bladder and kidney disease, anaemia, dysbiosis, celiac disease, IBS, Crohns disease, yeast and candida infections, allergies, prostate disease, PMS, bacterial and viral infections like herpes, hepatitis B and C, nervous disorders, burns, ulcers and wound healing and even the common cold! What's more, they are not only safer and cheaper than many of the indicated commercial drug treatments but are unrivalled by them in effectiveness! To find out why we must get a brief education in gut ecology…

When things go wrong: 21st Century war on gut health
In every healthy person the gut terrain is policed by about three and a half pounds of benefical symbiotic bacteria known as the gut flora which act to produce essential vitamins, hormones and antibiotics to protect against infection, help the digestive system break down carbohydrates, fats and proteins, digest putrefaction and most importantly compete with undesirable microorganisms like yeasts, fungi, bacteria and parasites to keep their numbers under control.

These beneficial bugs are normally continously re-established by the ingestion of soured milk products like cultured yoghurt, whey and cottage cheese. But with the advent of the 21st century western diet, lifestyle, sanitation and even medicine these essential bugs now live a precarious existence. A diet high in refined sugar and alcohol and low in natural soured milk products for instance is poisonous to the gut flora causing them to die off in large numbers. Chemicals too like flouridated and chlorinated water can be devastating to the resident flora. But by far the most common cause of wholesale death of beneficial bacteria is prescription drugs. Non-steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs can seriously derail gut ecology and worse still antibiotics because they are non-specific against both good and bad microorganisms can render the entire gut sterile.

The health consequences can be devastating and can mean that outnumbered pathogenic disease-causing bugs can proliferate causing havoc in gut health like dysbiosis, leaky gut and malabsorption. Medical experts are now being forced to admit that an injured flora may be the common weakness that allows many chronic diseases to gain a foothold. The early warning signs are varied but include chronic fatigue, allergies and sensitivities, vitamin deficiencies and anaemia, high cholesterol, hormonal imbalances, crippling PMS and menstrual complaints, rapid onset osteoporosis, and most importantly poor resistance to infection leading to more serious illness.

Bringing in foreign allies
It is common knowledge that supplementing an injured flora with probiotics and natural soured milk products can help to rebuild resistance to disease. However, what is often missed is that once the gut flora has become seriously outnumbered by pathogenic microorganisms no amount of repopulation with probiotics is going to help matters. Aggressive measures are required to bring their numbers back into the normal range and fight dysbiosis.

This is where Soil Based Organisms come in.

Soil Based Organisms Eat Candida for breakfast!
SBOs are benefical bacteria that live in soil and until the end of the 19th century when food processing replaced hand-to-mouth ingestion of raw fruit and veg, they formed a regular part of our diet. The action of SBOs in the human body is manifold including producing antibiotics and vitamins, ensuring complete digestion, stimulating gut wall immunity and most importantly here devouring the same pathogenic yeasts, molds, fungi and bacteria that become uninhibited in dysbiosis like the debilitating candida albicans. This is welcome news for all those battling with this temperamental pest which can wreck lives by going undetected for years and causing chronic symptoms of profound fatigue, bizzare "dry drunkeness", memory loss, brainfog, constipation, painful bloating and vitamin deficiencies which do not always respond to fungicidal medicines.

Goodbye Leaky Gut
What's more, with dybsiosis-related constipation so common these days and evacuation so infrequent, our bowels can become toxic waste dumps for rotting fecal matter. This waste is a fertile breeding ground for pathogenic pests and builds layer upon layer until the intestinal wall can barely absorb anything useful and we start to choke on our own toxins and become vitamin deficient. It doesn't end there because a starved intestinal wall can become porous like swiss cheese allowing undigested waste and food to leak into the blood leading to fierce immune reactions, allergy and even mental illness. The good news is that once colonized our friendly SBOs work industriously to "de-scale" the colon and intestines of clinging putrefaction that hampers nutrient absorption and cell surface immunity improving small intestinal absorption up to 60% and allowing the gut wall to repair itself.

What the West left behind
SBOs have until recently always behaved as a dietry safeguard to buffer against insults to the natural gut flora and help it to recover when thrown offkilter. However, since the turn of the last century their presence in the food chain has seriously dwindled. Both modern agricultural methods with their over-reliance on powerful pesticides, fungicides and germicidal chemicals and heat-based food processing are toxic to SBOs and this has created a serious vacuum of these medicinal bugs in the food chain.

For this reason the accompanying changes in diet, lifestyle, sanitation and drug-based medicine have had runaway effects on human health because there has been no bridle to minimize their impact on gut health. The result in the west has been epidemic increases in bowel and digestive system problems like candidiasis, gastritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohns and colitis which would have normally been mitigated by the presence of SBOs in the food chain. For this reason scientists are being forced to admit that we have lost touch with what has made food medicinal for thousands of years. But that's not all. New evidence is suggesting that by starving the body of SBOs we might have inadvertingly tossed aside nature's most powerful gift in antiviral medicine...

The Amazing Double Life of Soil Based Organisms
The real story starts when scientists began to realize that SBOs lead an amazing double-life and possess an astonishing healing action against chronic diseases to rival some of the strongest drugs on the market. Now the results are in after 12 years of research there can be no ignoring the dramatic remissions of chronic disease we have to report like spontaneous recoveries

from 13 year histories of chronic epilepsy, 20 year arthritis disabilities, spontaneous regression of breast disease and other malignant tumours and 3 day recoveries from lifelong Parkinson's disease, prostate enlargement, glaucoma and hypercholesterolemia! These form just a fraction of the cases now being replicated by clinical trials in Spain and South America to investigate the SBO phenomenon.

What is understood so far is that apart from the remarkable action SBOs exert on gut ecology these clever organisms actuaIly enter into a unique partership with the human immune system which biologists term symbiosis. Put simply once they drop anchor on the gut wall, SBOs secrete specialized antigen proteins which entice the human immune system to multiply its normal output of antibodies and this renders the body "on standby" for anything. The knock-on effects are shocking.

Nature's most powerful Antiviral Medicine
This simple immune "handshake" between bacteria and body firstly produces an unprecendented rise in the heavyweight immunity molecule alpha-inteferon. Alpha-inteferon exists in a mind boggling combination of 20 forms and scientists have long sought to reproduce this elusive polypeptide for use as a drug to treat life-threatening disorders of the immune system like AIDS, HIV, Hepatitis and Multiples Sclerosis. Unfortunately their attempts to date have failed and the single man made form of alpha-inteferon in commercial use has low biological potency, low safety and is prohibitively costly. Amazingly this synthetic drug is just no match for SBOs which boost an astonishing 16 of the 20 sub-species of the interferon series! The resulting explosion in Killer T-cell recruitment is a force to be reckoned with crippling even serious infections and seasonal troublemakers like the flu. Its potency, safety and inexpensiveness means SBOs may one day become the prefered antiviral treatment for serious
immune disease.

That's not all, once established in the gut this "immune hand-shake" strongly stimulates E-lymphocyte cell expression which react by synthesizing copius reserves of antibodies as a frontline defense against infection. With the antibody deck "stacked" in this way if an actual infection takes hold or a pathogen invades the body these dormant reserves instantly become "imprinted" with precise infonnation required to attack the offending invader and the infection is quickly overcome without a shot being fired. This extra contingent of antibodies will remain on standby for as long as SBOs are taken regularly -- greatly relieving the intensity and duration of illness when it strikes. In this way we can triple or quadruple our passive immune resistance...

Whats more SBOs also produce a potent antioxidant enzyme called Super Oxide Dismutase that acts as a super-scavenger to ferret out noxious end-products of metabolism called free-radicals. Free radicals increase in disease states and attack any molecule in the body creating organ or tissue damage and inflammation. Studies at John Hopkins University have shown that SBOs prevent such damage occuring to the heart after infarcts and in many disease states of the kidneys, pancreas and skin.

Finally SBOs are a superfood and easily bypasses serious iron deficiency by supplying its transporter molecule lactoferrin, ensuring that 95% of dietry iron enters the body and is personally delivered to the receptors where it is required. Similarly they supply isotonic nucleic acids like DNA and RNA which the body can readily assimilate for rapid healing of skin bums, ulcers, surgical incisions and infected wounds. And if all that wasn't enough SBOs are an abundant dietary source of over 71 micronutrients including chlorophyll, phytocyanin, fatty acids, amino acids, nucleic acids, vitamins, minerals and key enzymes for the malnourished gut!
